The new Mercedes van will be produced at Renault's factory in Maubeuge, France, where the automaker assembles the Kangoo.Read more »
It's that time of the year again when Ward's Automotive announces its annual 10 Best Interiors list. For 2012, the magazine's editorial staff evaluated 40 vehicles with new or significantly improved interiors for the 2012 or 2013 model years and came up with 10 winners regardless of price (see last year's winners here).
"We saw a tremendously diverse group of interiors this year, and it's obvious to us that auto makers are pushing their design staffs harder than ever for interiors that are beautifully appointed, well equipped and extremely comfortable," commented WardsAuto World Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter.Read more »
In fact, it was uncovered by a female friend of the married woman who quickly alerted her husband taking him to the lovers’ nest where they were neck deep in love making. When the husband of the married woman got to the scene, he could not hold his anger as people around assisted him in forcing the door open.
Lo and behold his wife of so many years was found naked in the arms of the pastor of the Church where she worships.
Some people quickly called the Police to rescue the situation but residents scared the Policemen away and got the Pastor thoroughly beaten up before he was taken away by police men.
The people at AMG are hard at work with the development of the most potent model of the newly revealed Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback. Rumored to be named either the A 25 AMG or A 45 AMG, the hot hatch could make its world premiere as early as this fall at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Power will come from a heavily modified version of the A 250's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, which is rated at 208hp (211PS). According to sources, in the AMG model, the four-cylinder unit is believed to deliver anywhere from 320hp to as much as 350-horsepower.
In order for the top A-Class model to put all those horses on the road in a civilized manner, it will be fitted with a new all-wheel drive system and a revised chassis with bespoke suspension, steering and braking systems as well as wider performance tires.Read more »
Over the years, we have heard countless rumors about the BMW Group reinventing its bubbly Isetta microcar from the mid-1950s and early-1960s to compete against Daimler's Smart Fortwo, though all of them have been just that: rumors.
All the same, Tony Weichselbraun, a recent graduate of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, wanted to re-create the tiny Isetta and bring it into the 21st century.Read more »
Classic Japanese sports models from the 1970s and 1980s are slowly but steadily gaining a strong following amongst auto enthusiasts and collectors alike, but not all people have the same feelings about these types of cars.
This owner of what appears to be an early 1980s Nissan 280ZX thought it would be a great idea to turn the Japanese sports coupe into something that resembles a cheesy arcade Ferrari simulator.

As with everything else in this life, there comes a time when things must change for a vehicle series, and if we are to believe a report from the Wall Street Journal, that time has arrived for the Ford Mustang.
Citing unnamed sources that are familiar with Ford's plans, the newspaper reported that the sixth generation of the Mustang that is pegged to arrive in 2014 as a 2015 model on the 50th anniversary of the series, will abandon the current, fifth-generation model's retro-styling in favor of a far more modern design.Read more »
Ask around and you will discover that many people are afraid of driving too close to large trucks on the highway, and judging by the following incident that reportedly took place in Taiwan earlier this month, it is a fear that is reasonable.

There is something very Crimsonesque about opener A Last Judgment: lots of tension, active guitar playing. The keyboards owe more to ELP, but the general outcome is one of tension, excitement with psychedelic overtones. Very good. This is in fact quite comparable to After Crying.
Very different is the extremely mellow, may I say cheesy, Romantic Rally. The bad thing is that the track is long as well. The song also has some more funky elements, but that certainly does not help. The guitar parts cropping up here and there are not bad, but not very distinctive either. Typical seventies jazzrock. A bit of Crimson comes up at the end (21st Century Schizoid Man).
Out Of 3-Dimension is a slow, somewhat ponderous piece with some lighter, dancing elements. This comes quite close to the old Camel. Plenty of melody and although quite mellow, the opening is quite atmospheric. The guitar playing reminds of Greece.
Mellow keyboards tinkle on Prayer, which has something of a Christmas atmosphere. The guitar lone and bluesy, and very melodic. There For that it is a bit too careful. But the semblance is there. All in all, a bit too obvious, although the guitar and keys can sound quite dissonant and wayward at times. The pace goes up a bit but it stays a bouncy affair. The keyboards sizzle towards the end.
Sweet Love is not bound to be a heavy track. In fact, we are back to how Prayer opened: melodic and mellow. The guitartist is good, especially during the softer slower parts where any error he makes will be plainly audible. But musically this is not my style. I am hoping for something a bit more proggy. A Tear Of Sphinx might be just that. At least, I have no reason to believe by the title that this is going to be a similar affair. There is an air of Middle Eastern mystery that pervades. Later the guitar cries out, but the music is again a bit too accessible for my tastes. There is a sense of urgency in the playing tho.
Tour Of The Deep Ocean is a long one. Almost 15 minutes in length, this is the epic track. Plenty of sad violin in the opening, slow and mysterious. Then the guitar comes in, Crimsonesque and all. Nice dark atmosphere and very good build up lead to sizzling keyboards. This is good stuff. A bit repetitive in places, but showing both melody, power and a bit of flashiness. However, it also includes some more introspective parts where the guitar cries out, quite lonely. Some of the melodies could come straight out of a Focus album. After this more accessible and melodic middle part, the repetitive drone of the beginning returns, getting the tension back into the song.
Jin.Zo-Ni.N.Gen is a title track of one of the bands albums. Do not ask me what it means. Again, this is one of the more rocky and off-beat tracks. The playing is a bit rough here. This one is similar in style to the previous song with strong sense of urgency and not without the necessary melody. Super Warp is the closer, more in the line of the usual jazzrock.

A series of complaints concerning select 2002-2008MY BMW 7-Series sedans that relate to incidents of unattended vehicle rollaway or vehicle movement after the driver expected the vehicle gearshift to automatically shift to park, have caught the attention of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Federal safety regulators said BMW provided the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) with 1 complaint and 46 field reports, while the ODI also identified three additional reports in its database alleging vehicle roll-away incidents of which 2 resulted in crashes.
Overall, ODI said that it found 16 crashes and 5 alleged injuries since it began investigating the cars last August. For this reason, it has upgraded the probe to an engineering analysis, which brings it closer to a recall.
The ongoing investigation potentially covers 121,708 BMW 7-Series sedans from the 2002 through the 2008 model years.Read more »

Whether you are a fan or not, the CVT gearbox is here to stay. Point in case is the new CVT from Honda, which is part of their Earth Dreams Technology, specially developed for mid-sized Honda vehicles.
This new CVT features newly developed high-efficiency electric oil pump, high-strength belt and exclusive CVT oil raise transmission efficiency, which enhances fuel economy. It also features a wide ratio that gives more torque in the lower rpm range that translates to quick acceleration from standstill. In addition, the new CVT is equipped with the G-Design Shift that controls the gearing, throttle and hydraulic control to make the system respond quicker to driver input.
The take back from this new CVT is that it offers five percent better fuel economy than the conventional CVT, and 10 percent better than a traditional 5-speed automatic. The new CVT will not reach us yet. It is still new in Japan and will be first shoehorned into the Step WGN and Step WGN Spada.
Japanese car maker Honda has been developing conventional plug-in and fuel-cell electric vehicles (EVs) for years. However, as well as merely swapping petrol power for electricity, Honda has also looked at how the power for its EVs is generated in the first place.
To demonstrate this, the company has even built a proposed future home to show how electric power for every part of a typical family's needs can impose less and less of an agenda on its neighbours and on the national power grid.
On the grounds of its Twin Ring Motegi racing and test track northeast of Tokyo, Honda has built what it calls its Smart Home, which is all part of a residential and transport management system that powers and manages the energy of the home. It represents the most effective way to live within one's energy means that I have seen.
The Smart Home's roof, on the southern, most effective sun-catching side in Japan, is covered with solar panels that replace the usual silicon-based photovoltaic setup with a copper, indium, gallium and selenium material.
Honda says its photovoltaic layer is one-80th the thickness of a typical monocrystaline silicon version, and while its overall energy conversion efficiency is just a little less than that of silicon, it converts more wavelengths of light into electricity.
The advantage of this is an ability to operate in low sunlight and shade more efficiently than conventional systems. Thus winter conditions are less of a problem.
A computer-controlled system, called the Smart E-Mix Manager, helps direct current into or out of all the devices that need it, to the most efficient end.
The Smart Home also includes a natural-gas, propane or even petrol-powered "cogeneration system" that uses a single- cylinder engine to produce 1kW of electricity and up to 2.5kW of recoverable heat energy for hot water and home heating.
A 2kW-hour lead-acid battery is also used to store surplus energy, and charge the electric vehicle.
The Smart Home is still in development and Honda intends to add additional features and amenities to it, such as independent electricity production in the event of a natural disaster.
The system stores energy sufficiently well so that the car can be fully charged by morning, and if during the day, the charger is full any extra energy can be put into the national grid system and/ or directed back into the household.
The Jazz could have been designed from the start to use electric power, with its fuel tank mounted under the front seats and creating huge expanses of storage and passenger volume when compared with other B-segment hatchbacks.
The Jazz EV swaps its petrol engine for a 92kW electric motor, while the fuel tank is replaced with a lithium-ion battery that Honda says will give a range of about 190 kilometres. A special onboard charger setup allows the Jazz to reach a full charge in about three hours from a 240v system.
Slowing down and braking helps charge the car too, through the same regeneration methods already used by other electric car makers.
The battery cells and electric power unit dovetail elegantly with the car as a whole, although the battery pack does eliminate the under-squab flexibility of the Jazz's famous "magic" rear seat.
This is no bad thing, as instead of the petrol car's fairly ordinary torsion-beam setup, it uses a more sophisticated multi-link arrangement.
Using a three-mode drive system, as in the CR-Z hybrid, the Jazz's throttle pedal can be primed to imbue three distinct responses from the almost silent drivetrain.
Sport allows the Jazz EV to launch off the line as if there's no tomorrow, along with a tell-tale yelp of briefly spinning rubber.
Switched into Econ mode, it's as if you've gone into slow motion by mistake. It probably preserves the battery a tad, and it offers slightly better range, so you may need to commute in this mode.
However, my favourite drive setting was Normal, which is quick enough for the Jazz to stay ahead of traffic, while showing a less alarming depletion of energy resources on the car's dash display graphic than the Sport setting does.
I have driven a few electric vehicles now - ground-up designs as well as factory and home-converted petrol cars - and while you could say the Jazz EV is one of the latter, albeit in a corporate kind of way, it is simply the most fun and convincing car of this type I've had my hands on.
True, they will have to do something about the car's range, and I will miss those clever theatre-like fold-up rear-seat squabs, but, my word, the car feels so right in every other area.
It's not beyond imagining a Jazz EV like this living with its family unit, say 50km or less from work.
It would have little effect on the grid or your power bill, but would provide as much fun or more than a conventional car, plus a pleasingly smug feeling that you won't be getting from our fossil- fuelled machines.
We won't be able to buy the Jazz EV just yet.
That sounds like a lot for a small car, but this isn't just a small car. It proves that using electric cars can be fun and that you don't necessarily need forests of wind vanes and several flooded valleys to cope with charging them.
More than 200 workers Toyota workers at the firm's Altona plant in Melbourne, Australia, were in for a nasty surprise on Monday as the company went ahead with its original plan to axe 350 employees. The remaining workers will be sacked on Tuesday.

Both the workers and their union said they were extremely upset with the way Toyota handled the situation as the company brought in security guards to escort the employees in min-vans across the road to a special reception center to sack them.Read more »

He's made some more progress, really like that pinstripe on the tank, makes me think about getting this tankshape for my RSC90, even though I was planning to make something like the later model tanks.
Note the RSC ignition cover
frame is newly painted, engine rebuilt with some high compression headgaskets and I'm still planning to put some other carbs on there.
Lightweight clutch and flywheel from the ->'81 beemers
Daytona sump to hold some extra oil, while still being able to use the center stand.
and then we put the tank and seat on, just to get the total picure of what it will look like.
For now with ducati fairing, stays will need to be built, but I'm looking for an MBV or Wüdo fairing, that will look better.
